“I’m going to do anything I can to be the best player that I can,” Boller said.
“If they think that’s a good way to go about it, then I’m open to everything.
It’s not like I take that personally.
“There are a lot of people that see sports psychologists. Anything I can do to
play better and help this team win.”
Boller’s mechanics and fundamentals are among his primary issues along with his
questionable decision-making. He threw two interceptions and fumbled once in a
12-10 loss to the Denver Broncos.
Billick acknowledged that Boller might have been better off if he hadn't started
right away and had an initiation akin to how Cincinnati's Carson Palmer learned
as a rookie by watching Jon Kitna.
"I think there is some validity to that," Billick said. "If we could have
orchestrated that or made that a priority, there might have been an upside to
that."
Can Boller relax and fulfill the potential the Ravens saw in him when they
drafted him in the first round out of California-Berkeley three years ago?
“I guess you just do it, you make yourself calm down,” Boller said. “That’s part
of my problem, it’s not all of my problem. I’ve made some bad decisions. As far
as throwing the ball, I feel like I can put the ball where I want to. I don’t
feel inaccurate.
“I think some of my decision-making has been the issue, and it’s obvious. My job
is to move the ball, put points on the board and I’m not doing that. Turning the
ball over, you might get away with some of that in college, but not in this
league.”
TURNING THE PAGE: Wide receiver Derrick Mason said he has resolved his issues
with the coaching staff that led him to vent Sunday and call himself a glorified
running back.
However, the Ravens’ leading receiver didn’t back off when asked if they reflect
his true feelings.
“I’m not going to linger no more on those comments, I think everyone knows how I
feel and I know how everyone feels, meaning coaches, head coach,” Mason said.
“For me to get into it anymore, it would be worthless. They understand the
frustration.
"As a player, I got to understand the position they’re in as a staff and what
they’re trying to do. A player venting, a player frustrated, that’s going to
happen sometimes, but don’t let your frustration kill the locker room.”
ROSTER MOVES: Offensive guard Keydrick Vincent’s season officially ended
Thursday as he was placed on injured reserve with a quadriceps injury.
Vincent, the former Pittsburgh Steelers’ blocker who started nine games after
signing in the offseason, became the fifth starter to be placed on injured
reserve.
The Ravens promoted rookie linebacker Zac Woodfin to the active roster from the
practice squad. They signed rookie tight end Bobby Blizzard (North Carolina) to
the practice squad.
TRAINING ROOM: Tight end Daniel Wilcox (high-ankle sprain) has been ruled out
for Monday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers.
Offensive guard Jason Brown (ankle), fullback Justin Green (wrist), running back
Jamal Lewis (thumb), linebacker Mike Smith (hamstring) and defensive end Tony
Weaver (knee, back) are all questionable.
Tight end Todd Heap (toe), offensive guard Edwin Mulitalo (knee) and linebacker
Adalius Thomas (thigh) are probable.
